FIRST@108: Public Art Award

Blog: Making of The Dispensary

Earlier this year, Tabatha Andrews, winner of the 2015 FIRST@108 Public Art Award worked with elderly patients to gain inspiration for The Dispensary, a transient, interactive sculpture now sited in the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Since it's arrival at the hospital the sculpture is being heralded as a remarkable addition to the formal hospital landscape; used regularly by occupational therapists and nursing staff to help elderly patients with Dementia access or create memories. The Dispensary is also being included in a three year research project by Imperial College which is aiming to assess the impact of the arts on the elderly. You can view a short documentary about the making of the The Dispensary below.
