HEX is an bavarian artist, specialising in stainless steel and CORTEN, who is based north of Munich and who tries to use steel beyond its industrial meaning in a romantic spiritual way.

HEX was born in 1964 in Munich/Germany. He studied Art History at the LMU but also is a trained and certified welder. To execute even large scale sculptures himself is very important to him, because he wants to use steel beyond its limits as industrial material. This becomes evident in his recent “Asteroid Series” were welded stainless steel is free formed in three dimensions without the restrictions of industrial producibility. His often smooth forms show that he tries to use steel like a natural material. The mirror finished surfaces of some stainless sculptures connect them to the light. All of his works are made for indoor use as well as for outdoors, depending only on the size which ranges between 30cm and 8m.
