Public art, sculptures

I have designed and installed public artworks in a wide variety of public spaces, ranging from static sculptures and figures in the streets of my hometown, to larger, more interactive pieces in high profile spaces such as at the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. Due to my twenty years of experience in public art and sculpture, I have a wealth of experience in researching and fully developing my own ideas and proposals. On the other hand, I love researching and developing ideas as part of a team, and am just as comfortable working on group projects. In whichever case, I always remain acutely aware of the multiple variables that must be taken into account when undertaking such projects, and above all, the care that must be taken to work with and to satisfy the people who inhabit the area or space in question.
With respect to my personal process, I tend to begin with ideas about what I am living and feeling as part of a living and feeling environment and world. I look to concepts of time, space, past, present and future, and of how these concepts flow within the designated space. From there, moving from the philosophical to the material, I consider which will be the most appropriate materials and construction processes, and begin to tailor and develop the idea taking into account all of these factors.
