FIRST@108: Public Art Award 2015 - The Dispensary
31 August 2016
Wednesday 31 August. 6.30 - 8.30pm
RBS Gallery, 108 Old Brompton Road, SW7 3RA
The Dispensary by artist Tabatha Andrews, winner of the 2015 FIRST@108: Public Art Award is an innovative sensory sculpture designed to engage and stimulate older people with dementia, and is the first of its kind to be brought into the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. For one night only the Dispensary will be exhibited in the RBS Gallery alongside a short documentary about the making of the work, plus visitors will also be able to experiment with the remote virtual presence tele-robot used to connect patients who are unable to leave the hospital to the RBS gallery. This one-off event is complimented by Altered States, an exhibition exploring perception and sensory interpretation through immersive installation and sculptural form including additional work by Andrews and horticultural installation artists Heywood & Condie.
