Paul Stafford MRBS

Slade School trained london based Sculptor, represented Great Britain in New York, Boston, Reichstag - Germany. My work is figuratively based focussing on the human conditon, often using myself as a starting point I look to my life for inspiration.

Trained as a Post Graduate Sculptor at the Slade School under Reg Butler, I was awarded the ‘Picker Fellowship’ as the year’s most promising Post Graduate student. Exhibiting with Flowers East abroad and in the UK, my work has been seen across the world. On the 17th of Janaury 2008 I crash landed at Heathrow as a passenger on flight BA038 returning home from Beijing. The event had a profound effect on my life and my work since has struggled to wrestle with conflicts in my head. Often using myself as a starting point, my recent work combines self portraits with found objects, dead birds, caged surroundings. The work is sometimes not easy to watch but if I have learned that you must always be true to yourself and must always pursue your goals and dreams.
