Ian Campbell-Briggs is a sculptor who works in series. The work is thematic, investigated through metaphor, and sometimes draws from the figure. His abstract works draw from many references.
He has exhibited widely in London, across the UK and has had two exhibitions in Europe. He has been commissioned to produce five public art sculptures for Rochester Cathedral, The National Trust, G-Live Guildford, Barchester Homes and the latest, Xylem for the RHS Chelsea.
The figure is often the inspiration, modelled in clay or plaster, which is then cast into resin or used as a former to produce linear welded steel figures. The purely abstract work, generally welded steel but also incorporating carved stone and wood, explores enclosing space through planar construction or taking a line for a walk through space.
