Fiona Haines is a Sculptor based in Bath; transforming found objects and juxtaposing them outside of their context to become a delivery system of the concept of 'fugitive essence'.

I am concerned with making things visible that are not normally seen by the human eye such as minerals found in Cornish spring water and geothermal waters from Bath and Iceland.

To pin down and reframe these elusive substances, I record field sounds, use long exposure photography and collect samples of waters and rock. This exploration of such sensory landscapes is my attempt to capture what I have named fugitive essence.

My work is characterized by colourful images; site-specific audio recordings and sculpture made from transformed objects and juxtapose them outside of their context to become a delivery system of the concept of fugitive essence.
